Please note: Pre-ground coffee beans can quickly lose their freshness, resulting in a notable decrease in aroma and flavor. For this reason, we don’t recommend a grinding service. We strongly encourage our customers to grind their coffee beans just before use for the best experience.

This coffee comes from the lush Volcanic soils of the RWENZORI Mountain range in Western Uganda, bordering the D.R. Congo. Sourced directly from a community of 35 Lead Farmers, along the steep slopes, who grow and harvest the cherries on their small farms before delivering only the juiciest of red cherries to a central drying centre. Cherries are thinly spread on a raised bed, where they mature and dry for 20-30 days. The Micro Lot project was created in 2016, initially has a demonstration farm, to educate farmers on Speciality preparation, with this coffee representing their first-ever production. Cypher Urban Roastery is one of only 3 roasters worldwide to have the unique opportunity to introduce a very unique coffee to the coffee-loving public.
Just in case you were wondering why is this amazing coffee was named “Chanzo”, it’s because it means “The Source” in Swahili. The Rwenzori mountain in the Western Uganda range is the source of the Nile river.
We recommend starting with a 1:18 coffee-to-water ratio, which provides an excellent total extraction level and maximizes flavor pulled out of the ground coffee. For our single origin coffees we recommend a pour over method either on a Chemex, V60 or Kalita Wave.
